For iOS, Tap "Settings" > "General" > "About" > and scroll down to "Service Provider Lock" or "Carrier Lock". It should say "No SIM restrictions". For Android, Tap "Settings" > "Connections" > "SIM Manager" > "Choose Network".

If your phone shows several networks it's *drumroll please* unlocked! You may need to reach out to your carrier to request unlocking.
